We came across this article online:
According to the post from America’s Frontline Doctors, they quoted a study from The Lancet, a peer-reviewed medical journal which found that protection from the Covid-19 vaccine waned over time. The article also adds that “doctors are calling this phenomena in the repeatedly vaccinated ‘immunity erosion’ or ‘Vaccine acquired immune deficiency syndrome’ (VAIDS), accounting for elevated incidence of myocarditis and other post-vaccine illnesses that either affect them more rapidly, resulting in death, or more slowly, resulting in chronic illness.”
When conducting our search on the claim, we found that America’s Frontline Doctors are an organization notorious for spreading Covid-19 misinformation. Several reports talking about the group described them as vaccine sceptics, profiting from the spread of misinformation, by selling controversial Covid-19 treatments such as ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine online.
A fact check by Agence France-Presse (AFP), a French news agency that has a global fact-checking operation had recently examined the claim as well. Their fact check involved asking Professor Peter Nordstrom who was one of the authors of the Lancet study about the claim, to which he replied that the article, with its mention of VAIDS was misinformation.
While it was true that the study did find vaccines effectiveness against symptomatic Covid-19 infection wanes progressively over time, there was no mention of VAIDS at all in the study. Additionally, Professor Nordstrom added that “It is also false for anyone to claim that vaccination results in immunity erosion or acquired immune deficiency, if anything like that even exists, based on our data, or any other data I’m aware of”.
Based on available evidence then, the claim that Covid-19 shots compromise the immune systems of recipients, causing immunity erosion in these individuals is false.
